Omo tuo happens to be one of my favorite meals especially when served with hot groundnut soup and chicken.
It is not indigenous to a particular tribe but enjoyed by all parts of Ghana. It is popular served with thick groundnut soup and chicken. Omo tuo can be taken as breakfast, launch or supper.
For me rice balls goes with palm nut soup with snail meat.
Ingredients for omo tuo
- Rice
- Water
- Salt
Things to note
- Regulate the salt
- Use enough water to make it easy to pound
Steps to prepare omo tuo
- Pour rice into a clean bowl, add water and rinse to remove excess starch
- Transfer rice into the cooking pot, add salt and water
- Place it on fire to boil
- Regulate the heat to ensure rice does not burn
- When cooked, use a wooden spatula to knead the rice until soft.
- Repeat until you get a desired consistency
- Scoop desired amount into a small bowl and mold into spherical or round balls
- Serve hot with groundnut soup or any other soup of choice.
- Store remaining rice balls into a refrigerator or storage container.

- 500 mls water
- 1 tbsp salt
Instructions
- Pour rice into a clean bowl, add water and rinseto remove excess starch
