In this guide I am going to give you the complete step by step guide on how to prepare the delicacy angwa moo the Ghanaian way.

What is angwa moo

Simply put, it is oil rice. It is prepared with rice cooked together with oil and water. It is one of the easiest dishes to prepare.

Unlike fried rice in which the rice is cooked before frying, angwa moo is cooked by first frying the onion in oil, adding water and the rice and allowing the mixture to cook together.

It can be served in any nice plate or bowl but a different touch is given it when served in a local earthenware bowl.

It can be served with hot pepper sauce, stew, kpakposhito sauce coupled with egg, fried fish, sardines or fried sausage.

Equipment

  • gas cooker

Ingredients
  

  • Rice
  • Cooking/vegetable oil
  • Salted beef
  • Sardine
  • Eggs
  • Water
  • Chilli pepper
  • Maggie cube
  • Bay leaves

Instructions
 

  • Wash rice, drain and dry.
  • In a pot, heat the oil and fry the chopped onions in hot oil until golden brown.
  • Take half of the onion and set aside.
  • Add the salted beef and mix well.
  • Add rice and fry over medium heat for about 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  • Add the bouillon cube and stir. Add the hot pepper and mix.
  • Add the water and stir well. Cook for 5 minutes.
  • Add the remaining onion and cook again for 5 minutes.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Cover and let stand 5 minutes before serving.
