  • all-purpose flour
  • Maizena (cornstarch)
  • baking powder
  • unsalted butter, softened
  • salt
  • powdered sugar
  • vanilla extract

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, Maizena, baking powder, and salt until well combined. Set aside.
  • In a separate bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.Add the vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix until incorporated.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the butter mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms. The dough should hold together but still be slightly crumbly.
  • Take small portions of the dough and shape them into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter. Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each biscuit.
  • Gently press down on each dough ball with the back of a fork to create a crisscross pattern on the top of the biscuits.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 12-15 minutes, or until the edges of the biscuits are lightly golden.
  • Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the biscuits cool on a wire rack for a few minutes.
  • Serve the buttery Maizena biscuits warm or at room temperature. They are perfect on their own or can be enjoyed with your favorite spreads or accompaniments.

Make sure to soften the butter at room temperature before creaming it with the powdered sugar. This will ensure a smooth and fluffy texture in the biscuits.
If you prefer a sweeter taste, you can increase the amount of powdered sugar in the recipe.
Store the biscuits in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3-4 days.
