Brief About Suya
Suya is spiced meat which can be beef, goat, chicken or gizzard, usually roasted with vegetables and enjoyed with drinks most of the time. It is a well-known delicacy that is now mostly sold in town and served at parties and other occasions.
At home, you can make suya to welcome your guests and I’m sure they will love it.

Ingredients for Suya
- 1 cup of salted peanuts
- 1 tablespoon of onion powder
- 1 tablespoon of cayenne pepper
- 1 tablespoon of ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 onion
- 2 tomatoes
- 1 green bell pepper
- 2 pounds of beef
- Cooking oil
What Suya Is Served With
Suya can be served with drinks, jollof rice, fried rice, plain rice and stew or fried yam and pepper.

- Blender
- Chopping board
- Oven/charcoal grill
Steps to prepare suya
- Chop your onion, tomatoes and green bell pepper onto a plate.
- Slice your beef into desired sizes on a chopping board, put into a bowl and set aside.
- Blend the peanuts, cayenne pepper, onion powder, ground ginger, garlic powder and a little oil together in a blender until smooth.
- Pour the blended mixture unto the sliced beef in a bowl and mix well.
- Keep in the fridge for about an hour to allow the spices to infuse into the beef.
- Arrange the beef and chopped onions, tomatoes and green bell pepper on wooden skewers.
- Charcoal grill and turn over from time to time till it’s done.Fire should be regulated to avoid burning the beef. It can also be done in the oven.
- Serve onto a plate.
