Yakeyake is a simple dish which can be eaten during lunch time and is easy to prepare. Below we bring you a guide on how to prepare yakeyake.

 

 

Ingredients for Yake Yake

  • 1 tuber of cassava
  • Water
  • 1 tablespoon of corn flour
  • Salt (to taste)

 

What Yakeyake Can Be Served With

Yakeyake can be served with ground pepper, onions, tomatoes, fried fish or fried chicken .It can also be served with soup.

  •  Grater
  •  Small mortar and pestle
  •  Mesh strainer
  •  Colander
  •  Fine clean cloth

 

 

Steps to prepare yake yake

  1. Cut cassava into smaller sizes into a bowl and soak in water overnight.
  2. Grate the cassava into a bowl.
  3. Use a small mortar and pestle to mash the grated cassava.
  4. Use a clean cloth to drain the water from the grated cassava. Squeeze till dry.
  5. Use a mesh strainer to sieve the dried cassava into a bowl.
  6. Add one tablespoon of corn flour to the dried cassava and sieve again. Add salt and stir.
  7. Put some water on fire in a saucepan and let it boil.
  8.  Put a fine clean cloth into a colander and put the dried grated cassava mixed with corn flour and salt into it. Cover the sauce pan with its lid and let the food steam for a while.
  9.  Remove from fire when ready and serve.
