Tofu Bao Buns also known as steamed buns originated in china (Gua Bao) and is very popular in Korea and Thailand for its amazing taste. This Bun is prepared with simple ingredients like flour, salt, sugar, water and yeast. Tofu Bao is alight , fluffy bun that can be served with vegetables, rice or filled with pork and other meats. Tofu Bao Bun

Ingredients
- 300 g all purpose flour
- 30 g sugar
- 1/4 salt
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp instant yeast
- 175 ml water
- cooking oil
- 400 g tofu
- 2 shallots
- 2 garlic cloves
- 2-4 star anise
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2-4 Cloves
- 4 dried chillis
- 4 sliced ginger
- 5 spice powder
- brown sugar
- Chinese rice wine
- thick soy sauce
Instructions
- Mix the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder ,instant yeast evenly in a bowl
- Add water and knead until soft and round
- Rest dough for 10 minutes
- Add 1 tsp oil and continue kneading for 2 -5minuites.cover and rest the dough for an hour
- Punch air out of the dough and make round and take dough to a floured surface and cut the dough into 8 pieces
- Shape the dough into a ball and cover for some minutes
- Takeout one bao after the other and use rolling pin to roll out the dough into flat oval shape
- Lightly brush surface with oil and fold the dough in half, using the rolling pin, press the bao gently together and place into a steam basket . repeat this process for the rest and cover for 30 minutes fill the water into wok and steam the baos for 8 minutes with high heat.
- To make the tofu; add spices ingredients to oil
- Sauté for 2 minutes with low heat (Till Fragrant)
- Add Tofu and add in vegetable broth or water
- Add 1 tsp five spice powder, brown sugar, rice wine, soy sauce and add salt to your taste
- Cover and cook with low heat for 15 minutes
- Then cook with high heat for 3 minutes or till the sauce thickens. Flip the other side to coat
- Turn off heat and serve. Sprinkle with sesame seed
