While coconut oil and baking soda are commonly used for various home remedies and natural treatments, it’s important to note that there is limited scientific evidence supporting their effectiveness in treating oral lichen planus (OLP). OLP is a chronic inflammatory condition that affects the oral mucosa and requires proper medical attention. It is always recommended to consult with a healthcare professional or a dentist for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment plan.

Coconut Oil And Baking Soda For Oral Lichen Planus

It's important to note that these remedies may help promote oral hygiene and maintain a healthy oral environment. However, they are not meant to replace professional medical advice or treatment for oral conditions like OLP. If you suspect you have OLP or any oral health concerns, it's best to consult with a healthcare professional for a proper diagnosis and appropriate treatment plan.

Instructions

  • Take a tablespoon of organic, cold-pressed coconut oil.
  • Swish the oil in your mouth for 15-20 minutes, making sure to pull it through your teeth and around your gums.
  • Spit out the oil into a trash bin (not in the sink, as it can solidify and clog the drain).
  • Rinse your mouth thoroughly with warm water and brush your teeth as usual.
  • Repeat this process daily, preferably in the morning before eating or drinking.
  • Mix 1 teaspoon of baking soda with 1 cup of warm water.
  • Stir the mixture until the baking soda is dissolved.
  • Take a mouthful of the solution and swish it around your mouth for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  • Spit out the solution and rinse your mouth with plain water.
  • Use this mouth rinse once or twice a day, after brushing your teeth.
