How to cook pasta with mince
Ingredients
- Pasta of your choice (such as spaghetti, penne, or fusilli)
-1 lb (450g) ground beef or minced meat
-1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 carrot, finely chopped
- 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1/2 cup beef or vegetable broth
- 1/2 cup red wine (optional)
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil for cooking
- Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet or saucepan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until translucent.2. Add the minced meat to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it up into small pieces with a spatula or wooden spoon.3. Once the meat is browned, add the chopped carrot and celery. Continue cooking for about 5 minutes until the vegetables start to soften.4. Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, beef or vegetable broth, and red wine (if using). Stir well to combine.5. Season with dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper. Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and let the sauce simmer for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together. You can simmer it for longer if you have more time, as a longer cooking time will further enhance the flavors.6. While the sauce is simmering, cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain the cooked pasta.7. Serve the spaghetti with the bolognese sauce on top. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese and garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.
