Ingredients

  • Kentucky Legend ham (fully cooked)

    - 1 cup brown sugar

    - 1/2 cup Dijon mustard

    - 1/4 cup maple syrup or honey

    - Whole cloves (optional, for studding)

    - Pineapple rings (optional, for garnish)

    - Maraschino cherries (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).
    2. Remove the packaging from the Kentucky Legend ham, and if necessary, trim any excess fat, leaving a thin layer for flavor and moisture.
    3. Place the ham in a large roasting pan, flat side down. If desired, you can stud the ham with whole cloves for added aromatic flavor.
    4. In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, Dijon mustard, and maple syrup or honey. Stir until well blended. This mixture will serve as the glaze for the ham.
    5. Brush the glaze generously over the surface of the ham, ensuring it is evenly coated.
    6. If desired, you can decorate the ham by placing pineapple rings on the surface and securing them with toothpicks. Add maraschino cherries to the center of each pineapple ring for an attractive presentation.
    7. Tent the ham loosely with aluminum foil to prevent the glaze from burning.
    8. Place the roasting pan with the ham in the preheated oven. Bake for approximately 12-15 minutes per pound (or follow the instructions provided with your specific Kentucky Legend ham) until the internal temperature reaches 140°F (60°C).
    9. Every 30 minutes, remove the foil and baste the ham with the pan juices to ensure it stays moist and flavorful.
    10. During the last 10-15 minutes of cooking, remove the foil completely and increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C). This will help caramelize the glaze and create a beautiful golden-brown crust.
    11. Once the internal temperature reaches 140°F (60°C) and the glaze has caramelized, remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.
    12. Slice the Kentucky Legend ham and serve it warm. You can drizzle any remaining pan juices over the slices for added flavor.
