Mocha is the name for banana flower in Bengali language. The purple parts of the banana flower are not edible and must be removed during its preparation. Mochar chop is a popular Bengali meal eaten as a snack. It is sold on the streets and in restaurants. You can tell from this that mochar chop is indeed a special snack to the Bengali people.

Ingredients
1 banana flower
2 tablespoons of raisins
¼ coconut
2 teaspoons of dhania and jeera powder
1 tablespoon of flour
1 teaspoon of red chilli powder
1 tablespoon of flour
2 inches of ginger (ground)
1 teaspoon of sugar
1 tablespoon of flour batter
Bread crumbs
Garam masala powder
Salt (to taste)
Oil for deep frying

Steps
- Clean the banana flower thoroughly with water and cut it into small pieces and remove the outer purple leaves and discard. (Ideally this should be done a day before).Dip your fingers into a lemon and water solution repeatedly during cleaning the banana flower to prevent dark stains on your fingers.
- Boil it in a cup of water, with ½ teaspoon of salt and squeeze the liquid out.
- Chop the pieces of fresh coconut and fry lightly.
- Chop the raisins and set aside.
- Slightly heat a tablespoon of oil and fry the minced banana flower in it.
- Add the coconut, raisins, ground ginger, red chilli powder, sugar, salt, dhana and jeera powder and finally the garam masala powder.
- Add a tablespoon of flour and roll them into uniform shapes.
- Mix flour and water and dip them into it. Then rub them into bread crumbs.
- Deep fry and serve when they are done frying.
