Oat porridge is a breakfast meal simply made with oats and water. Oats is a good source of fiber which helps with free bowels. It also contains a fiber known as beta-glucan, which helps to lower cholesterol and blood sugar levels.

Oat porridge is a simple meal to make and in this article we will learn how to prepare it.

 

Ingredients

6 tablespoons of oats

Water (depending on preferred consistency)

A pinch of salt

 

What Oat Porridge Can Be Served With

Oat porridge can be served with sugar, milk, bread and fried egg or bread alone.

 

Steps

  1. Put a small saucepan on fire and pour some water into it, depending on your preferred consistency. If you want a flowing consistency, let the water be more and if you want it to be thick, reduce the water.
  2. Add the salt and oats to the water and stir. Don’t let the water heat before you put in the oats otherwise it can stick together.
  3. Leave it to cook for about ten minutes.
  4. When it is ready, pour it into a bowl. Add sugar and milk, garnish with some almonds and serve. The sugar, milk and almonds are optional.
