Ingredients
  

  • pound (450g) boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • plain yogurt
  • lemon juice
  • ginger paste
  • garlic paste
  • chili powder
  • ground turmeric
  • ground cumin
  • coriander
  • salt
  • butter
  • onion
  • tomato puree
  • heavy cream
  • honey
  • fresh cilantro

Instructions
 

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the yogurt, lemon juice, ginger paste, garlic paste, chili powder, turmeric, cumin, coriander, and salt to make the marinade. Mix well.
  • Add the chicken pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are evenly coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight for enhanced flavor.
  • In a skillet or large pan, melt the ghee or butter over medium heat.
    Add the chopped onion to the pan and cook until golden brown, stirring occasionally.
  • Add the minced garlic and ginger paste to the pan and sauté for another minute until fragrant.
    Reduce the heat and add the chili powder, cumin, coriander, and turmeric to the pan. Cook for a minute, stirring continuously.
  • Stir in the tomato puree and cook for 2-3 minutes until the mixture thickens.
    Add the marinated chicken pieces to the pan along with any remaining marinade. Stir well to coat the chicken with the sauce.
  • Cover the pan with a lid and simmer for about 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and tender. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  • Pour in the heavy cream and honey, stirring gently to combine. Continue to simmer for another 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
  • Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
  • Serve the Butter Chicken hot with naan bread, basmati rice, or roti. Enjoy the delightful flavors and creamy texture!
