  • maize
  • water
  • salt

  • In a heavy-bottomed pot or saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
  • Once the water is boiling, add 1 teaspoon of salt and stir to dissolve.
  • Gradually add the maize meal to the boiling water while stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
  • Reduce the heat to low once all the maize meal is incorporated.
  • Use a wooden spoon to stir the mixture continuously in a circular motion. Ensure that the maize meal is well-distributed in the water.
  • Continue stirring and cooking over low heat for 15-20 minutes or until the krummelpap reaches a crumbly texture. It should be cooked through but still have a slightly grainy consistency.
