Strawberry tiramisu cake recipe
Tiramisu is an Italian dessert made of ladyfingers soaked in coffee, layered with mascarpone cream, and topped with cocoa powder. The coffee is often spiked with alcohol like marsala wine or brandy. I went with Marsala liqueur because it's more subtle and compliments the cake very well.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds fresh strawberries sliced or chopped
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 cups brewed espresso
- 2 cups marsala wine
- 2 package ladyfinger cookies
- 3 cups mascarpone cheese
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Cocoa powder for dusting
Instructions
- Make ready all your ingredients and combine the sliced strawberries with the sugar in a sizeable bowl and set aside.
- Mix the brewed espresso and marsala wine pudding mix together and then whip the heavy cream together.
- For a tasty mascarpone mixture, whisk together mascarpone cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth in a sizeable bowl.
- Afterwards, dip the ladyfinger cookies into the espresso and wine mixture and then grab your cake pan and layer them in the cake pan after each dipping, make sure it's well coated.
- Spread half of the strawberry mixture on the lady finger cookies and layer the mascarpone mixture over the strawberry mixture. Repeat layers using your spatula until you run out of ingredients, finishing with a layer of mascarpone mixture on top.
- Cover the cake pan and refrigerate the cake for at least 4-6 hours or preferably overnight to allow flavors to meld.
- Dust the top with cocoa powder and serve.
