Tarte flambée, also known as Flammekueche, is a traditional Alsatian dish from France. It’s a thin, rectangular or round flatbread topped with various ingredients. It includes crème fraîche, onions, and bacon, there are variations and one of them involves goat cheese and that is what we are going to make today.
Tarte flambée with goat cheese adds a layer of crème fraîche or a similar creamy base, sliced onions, and crumbled goat cheese. The combination of the tangy goat cheese, creamy base, and the crispy crust from the thin bread creates a delicious dish.
Tarte flambee goat cheese recipe
Ingredients
- Pack of an already rolled shortcrust pastry
- 1 cup crème fraîche or sour cream
- 2 white onions thinly sliced
- 4 ounces chavroux goat cheese, crumbled
- Salt and pepper to taste
- A pinch of nutmeg
Instructions
- Gather all your ingredients and preheat your oven.
- Get a sizeable bowl add mix the flour and salt. Add the warm water and olive oil. Knead the dough until it's smooth. Let it rest for about some minutes, about 20 minutes. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a circular shape, you then transfer the rolled-out dough to a baking sheet or pizza stone

- Use the ready rolled shortcrust pastry
- Mix a pinch of salt and pepper with the crème fraîche and then spread a thin layer or over the dough, leave a small border around the edges.
- Spread the thinly sliced onions evenly over the crème fraîche and then sprinkle crumbled goat cheese over the top, and season with salt and pepper to your taste bake in the preheated oven for some minutes or until the edges are golden and allow it to cool slightly before slicing.
