Chicken drumsticks in the pan recipe

Chicken drumsticks are the bottom part of the chicken leg (the top part is the thigh). They're often cooked in the same way as thighs (bone-in and skin-on) and they deliver the same meaty, juicy flavor. The chicken drumsticks will bake for 40-45 minutes until they reach 165°F when you test them with a digital meat thermometer (affiliate link) in the thickest part of the meat. Or look for the juices to run clear when you slice into one of them. Remove them from the oven and let them rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Ingredients
  

  • Chicken drumsticks as many as you need
  • Olive oil or any cooking oil of your choice
  • Salt
  • Pepper or black pepper
  • Seasonings
  • Paprika
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • Thyme or any preferred spices

Instructions
 

  • Gather all ingredients. Get your chicken drumsticks and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  • Add the paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt together with any other seasoning of your choice in a small bowl. Mix well till they are well combined.
  • Add the chicken drumsticks into a bowl then add in the seasoning mix. Mix the seasoning with drumsticks till the drumsticks are evenly coated.  Let them sit for a few minutes to absorb the flavors that is allow them to marinate.
  • Heat a pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Add a drizzle of olive oil to coat the bottom of the pan. The moment the pan becomes hot, carefully place the seasoned chicken drumsticks in the pan, making sure they are not overcrowded in the pan.
  • Let the drumsticks cook undisturbed for about 7 minutes on one side until become golden brown. Flip the drumsticks using tongs and cook for an additional 7 minutes on the other side until they are cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) or there is no pinkness in the middle.
  • You have to reduce the heat if necessary to ensure they cook evenly without burning.
  • Optional: You can also add a cup of water and allow it to cook the chicken after pan-frying it for some minutes. Afterwards, remove them with the tongs and place them on a plate.
  • If you prefer a crispy skin, you can finish the drumsticks by placing them under the broiler for a couple of minutes after they are cooked through in the pan as well.
  • Once done, remove the drumsticks from the pan and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
  • Garnish with fresh herbs to make it attractive and enjoy your delicious pan-cooked chicken drumsticks!
