The embedded item gives it the name. So today, let’s make some brittles embedded with peanuts which is a peanut brittle recipe.
Peanut brittle recipe
Traditionally, a mixture of sugar and water is heated to the hard crack stage corresponding to a temperature of approximately 146 to 154 °C (295 to 309 °F), although some recipes also call for ingredients such as glucose and salt in the first step. Nuts are mixed with the caramelized sugar. At this point spices, leavening agents, and often peanut butter or butter are added. The hot candy is poured out onto a flat surface for cooling, traditionally a granite, a marble slab or a baking sheet. The hot candy may be troweled to a uniform thickness. When the brittle is cool enough to handle, it is broken into pieces. It is also rare to break the brittle into equal pieces.
Ingredients
- Granulated sugar
- Llight corn syrup
- Salt
- Small quantity of water
- Peanuts unsalted
- Unsalted butter
- Baking soda
Instructions
- Gather all your ingredients. Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper or greasing it lightly. Grab a heavy-bottomed saucepan, anmix the sugar, corn syrup, salt, and water. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
- Bring the mixture to a boil without stirring. Use a candy thermometer and cook for some time until it reaches the hard-crack stage. Then add the peanuts to the mixture and continue cooking, stirring constantly for a few more minutes, until the mixture reaches a rich golden color.
- Remove the saucepan from heat. Quickly stir in the butter and baking soda until well combined. Be cautious as the mixture will bubble up. Take the mixture to where you have the already prepared baking sheet. Use a spatula or the back of a spoon to spread it out into an even layer.
- Let the brittle cool and harden completely at room temperature. Once the brittle is cooled, break the peanut brittle into pieces and store it in an airtight container. You can share with friends and family.
- Enjoy your deliciously homemade peanut brittle anywhere and anytime!
