Fanta cake is a cake made with a sponge base, the key ingredient of the sponge base is Fanta or sparkling mineral water, thus the cake base becomes fluffier than usual sponge-based cakes.[1] The Fanta as an ingredient is also the name-giving component. The top can be either a simple lemon glaze or a creamy layer made of heavy sour cream, whipped cream, sugar, and canned mandarins. The traditional measurement is in cups, which is uncommon as it originates from Germany, where it is called Fantakuchen Fantakuchen is a popular cake for birthday parties[2] or bake sales.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup Fanta Orange soda room temperature
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Zest of 1 orange optional

Instructions
 

  • Gather all your ingredients. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour in a cake pan, then in a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder. In another bowl, beat the eggs and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Gradually add the vegetable oil, Fanta, vanilla extract, and orange zest (optional) into the egg mixture. Mix until well combined. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until the batter is smooth and very well combined.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Afterward, bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • For the best taste, allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
