This recipe demonstrates how to cook store-bought gnocchi and create a flavorful sauce to complement the gnocchi, resulting in a delicious meal that can be served as a quick lunch or dinner option.
Ingredients
- store-bought gnocchi
- olive oil
- garlic
- tomatoes
- oregano
- salt and pepper
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the store-bought gnocchi to the boiling water and cook according to the package instructions or until they float to the surface. This usually takes about 2-3 minutes.
- Once the gnocchi float to the top, use a slotted spoon or mesh strainer to remove them from the boiling water. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet or pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
- Pour the canned diced tomatoes (including the juice) into the skillet with the garlic. Add dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine. Simmer the sauce for about 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Add the cooked gnocchi to the tomato sauce in the skillet. Gently toss until the gnocchi are evenly coated with the sauce.
- Remove the skillet from heat. Optionally, garnish with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves before serving.
