Instructions
- Place the dried chickpeas in a large bowl or container. Cover them with water, ensuring there's enough water to submerge the chickpeas entirely. Soak the chickpeas overnight or for at least 8 hours.
- After soaking, drain the chickpeas and rinse them under running water.
- In a large pot, add the soaked and rinsed chickpeas.Cover the chickpeas with water, ensuring they're submerged by a couple of inches.Bring the water to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to medium-low to maintain a gentle simmer.
- Cook the chickpeas uncovered for about 60-90 minutes or until they are tender. Check periodically and skim off any foam that forms on the surface.
- Place the soaked and rinsed chickpeas in a pressure cooker.Cover the chickpeas with water (about 2 inches above the chickpeas).
- Close the pressure cooker lid and cook at high pressure for around 15-20 minutes. Exact cooking times may vary based on your pressure cooker model.
- To check if the chickpeas are done, take a couple of chickpeas and gently press between your fingers; they should be soft and tender.
