Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large skillet, cook the ground beef (or turkey) and chopped onion over medium-high heat until the meat is browned and the onion is tender. Be sure to break up the meat into small pieces as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
  • In a separate bowl, mix together the condensed cream of chicken soup and milk until well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste. In a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, spread the cooked meat and onion mixture evenly across the bottom.
  • Pour the soup mixture over the meat layer and spread it out evenly. Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the soup layer.
  • Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer on top of the cheese. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy, and the casserole is heated through.
  • Remove the casserole from the oven and sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the tater tots. Return the casserole to the oven and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Once done, you can garnish the casserole with sliced green onions, chopped parsley, or crumbled bacon for added flavor and presentation. Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
