They are a popular and versatile snack or appetizer enjoyed by people of all ages. Chicken pops can be made from boneless chicken breast or thigh meat, and they are often served with various dipping sauces, such as ketchup, barbecue sauce, or honey mustard. Ingredients

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 eggs, beaten

  • 1 cup breadcrumbs

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Cooking oil for frying

Instructions

  • Set up three shallow bowls. In the first bowl, place the flour. In the second bowl, add the beaten eggs. In the third bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix these dry ingredients well.
  • Take a piece of chicken and dip it into the flour, ensuring it's coated evenly. Then, dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, coat it thoroughly with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing the breadcrumbs onto the chicken to adhere.
  • Repeat the dipping and coating process for all the chicken pieces. Place the coated chicken pops on a baking sheet or plate.
  • In a deep frying pan or skillet, heat enough cooking oil to submerge the chicken pops. Heat the oil to 350-375°F (175-190°C).
  • Carefully place the coated chicken pops into the hot oil, a few at a time, depending on the size of your pan. Fry them for about 3-4 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
  • Once all the chicken pops are fried and drained, serve them hot with your favorite dipping sauces.
These homemade chicken pops are perfect as a snack, appetizer, or even a main course. Enjoy the delicious, crispy goodness!

Notes

One important thing to note when making chicken pops is to ensure that the internal temperature of the chicken reaches a safe level to consume. Use a meat thermometer to check that the chicken pieces have reached an internal temperature of at least 165°F (74°C). This is crucial for food safety, as it ensures that the chicken is fully cooked and safe to eat. Overcooking can result in dry chicken, so aim for this minimum temperature without exceeding it to maintain a juicy and flavorful chicken pop.
