- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp. sugar
- 1 1/4 cups warm water
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 tbsp. unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine the warm water and sugar. Stir until the sugar dissolves
- Sprinkle the yeast over the water-sugar mixture and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
Mix the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.
- Pour the yeast mixture, milk, and melted butter into the dry ingredients. Mix everything together until a dough forms.
Knead the Dough: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead it for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic
First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm, draft-free place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
- .Shape the Rolls: Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 12 equal portions. Shape each portion into a round ball and place them on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
Second Rise: Cover the rolls with a kitchen towel and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat and Bake: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes or until they turn golden brown.
- Cool and Enjoy:Allow the bread rolls to cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
You can customize these rolls by adding seeds (like sesame or poppy seeds) or herbs (such as rosemary or thyme) to the dough for extra flavor. Make sure the water you use for activating the yeast is not too hot, as it can kill the yeast.
