Ingredients
  

for chocolate cake

  • 1 box of chocolate cake mix

Ingredients for cake mix

  • eggs
  • oil
  • water

For the chocolate pudding layer

  • 3.4 oz boxes of instant chocolate pudding
  • 4 cups cold milk

for whipped cream layer

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the chocolate ganache:

  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

For assembly: Chocolate shavings or grated chocolate (optional)

    Instructions
     

    Prepare the chocolate cake

    • follow the instructions on the cake mix box to bake the chocolate cake. allow it to cool completely, then cut t into small cubes

    Prepare the chocolate pudding

    • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the instant chocolate pudding mix and cold milk until it thickens. Refrigerate for about 5 minutes to set.

    Prepare the whipped cream: In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.

      Prepare the chocolate ganache: In a microwave-safe bowl, heat the chocolate chips and heavy cream in 20-second intervals, stirring until the chocolate is melted and smooth.

        Assemble the trifle: In a large trifle dish or a clear glass bowl, start with a layer of chocolate cake cubes at the bottom.

        • Top the cake with a layer of chocolate pudding, followed by a layer of whipped cream. Repeat these layers until the trifle dish is filled, finishing with a layer of whipped cream on top.
        • Drizzle with chocolate ganache: Pour the prepared chocolate ganache over the top layer of whipped cream, allowing it to drip down the sides.
        • You can also garnish with chocolate shavings or grated chocolate for extra decoration.

        Refrigerate: Cover the trifle and refrigerate for at least a few hours (ideally overnight) to allow the flavors to meld together.
