Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 cup warm water

  • Pinch of salt

  • Filling of your choice (e.g., ground meat, chopped vegetables, shrimp)

  • Soy sauce or dipping sauce for serving

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and a pinch of salt.
  • Gradually add warm water while stirring until the dough comes together.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for a few minutes until smooth. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for about 15-20 minutes.
  • Roll out the dough on a floured surface until it's about 1/8 inch thick.
  • Cut out circles from the dough using a round cookie cutter or the rim of a glass.
  • Place a small spoonful of your chosen filling in the center of each dough circle.
  • Fold the dough in half over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Press the edges to seal the dumpling.
  • You can pleat the edges for a decorative touch: fold and press small sections of the dough along the sealed edge.
  • Repeat the process with the remaining dough and filling.
  • In a large pot of boiling water, add the dumplings and cook for about 5-7 minutes or until they float to the surface and the filling is cooked.
  • Remove the dumplings with a slotted spoon and serve them hot with soy sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
