Equipment

  • pot
  • timer
  • bowl

Ingredients

  • fresh eggs
  • water

Instructions

  • Take out the desired number of eggs from the refrigerator. Let them sit at room temperature for about 10-15 minutes before cooking. This helps prevent cracking when placed in hot water.
  • Fill a pot with enough water to cover the eggs. Place the pot on the stove over high heat and bring the water to a rolling boil.
  • Gently lower the room-temperature eggs into the boiling water using a spoon.
  • Set a timer for 9-12 minutes, depending on your preferred level of doneness:9 minutes for a slightly soft center and fully set whites.10-12 minutes for a firmer yolk with a crumbly, dry texture.
  • While the eggs are cooking, fill a bowl with ice water. This will be used to stop the cooking process and make the eggs easier to peel.
  • As soon as the timer goes off, use a slotted spoon to transfer the eggs to the bowl of ice water. Let them sit for a few minutes to cool down and halt the cooking
  • Once the eggs are cool, gently tap them on a hard surface to crack the shell, then roll them to loosen it. Begin peeling from the wider end, where there's usually an air pocket. The shells should come off easily.
  • Your perfectly cooked hard-boiled eggs are ready to be enjoyed. Slice, season with salt and pepper, and savor their simplicity or use them in your favorite recipes.
