- Spread one pint (2 cups) of softened chocolate ice cream over the vanilla ice cream layer. Again, use a spatula to create an even layer. Return the pan to the freezer for another 30 minutes.
- Repeat the process with another layer of vanilla ice cream, followed by chocolate ice cream. Make sure each layer is smooth and evenly spread.
- Cover the pan with plastic wrap and place it in the freezer. Allow the ice cream cake to freeze for at least 6 hours or overnight.
- In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just starts to simmer.
