Ingredients
  

  • fresh artichokes
  • lemon
  • water
  • olive oil
  • salt and pepper

Instructions
 

  • Rinse the artichoke under cold running water to remove any dirt or debris.Use kitchen shears or a sharp knife to trim about 1 inch off the top of the artichoke, removing the sharp tips of the leaves.
  • Trim the stem of the artichoke to make it flat, allowing it to stand upright.
  • If you're boiling or steaming the artichokes and want to prevent browning, rub the cut parts with lemon halves to keep them fresh.
  • Fill a large pot with enough water to cover the artichokes.Add a pinch of salt to the water for seasoning.
  • Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat.
  • Add the prepared artichokes to the boiling water.Reduce the heat to medium-low and cover the pot with a lid
  • Boil the artichokes for about 25-30 minutes or until the outer leaves are tender and easily pull away.

  • Artichokes are best served warm or at room temperature.
  • You can eat the fleshy part of the artichoke leaves by pulling them through your teeth. The heart, located at the base of the artichoke, is the most tender and flavorful part, and it's a real treat once you reach it.
