Ingredients
- semi-sweet or dark chocolate
- vegetable oil
- icecream chocolate and vanilla
- hazelnut
- almondnuts
- cocoa powder
- Maraschino cherries
Instructions
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chopped chocolate and vegetable oil together in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Let it cool for a few minutes.
- Line a baking sheet or tray that will fit in your freezer with parchment paper.Using an ice cream scoop, quickly scoop out balls of chocolate and vanilla ice cream onto the prepared baking sheet. Work swiftly to keep the ice cream from melting too much.
- Place the baking sheet in the freezer for about 30-45 minutes or until the ice cream balls are firm.
- Remove the ice cream balls from the freezer. Working quickly, take one chocolate ice cream ball and one vanilla ice cream ball, press them together gently, and shape them into a larger ball. Place them back on the baking sheet.
- Once all the ice cream balls are paired and shaped, return them to the freezer for another 30 minutes or until firm.
- Using a spoon or your hands, carefully dip each ice cream ball into the melted chocolate, ensuring it is completely coated. Place the coated balls back onto the parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Immediately sprinkle the chopped nuts over the chocolate-coated ice cream balls before the chocolate hardens. Optionally, lightly dust with cocoa powder.
- Place the Tartufo back in the freezer for at least 3-4 hours or until completely frozen and firm.
- Before serving, if desired, garnish each Tartufo with a maraschino cherry on top.
