Instructions
- Clean the chicken or pork liver by removing any connective tissues or membranes. Rinse it thoroughly under cold water.
- In a skillet or frying pan, heat the butter or cooking oil over medium heat.Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pan. Sauté until they become soft and translucent, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add the cleaned and trimmed liver to the pan. Cook the liver until it's no longer pink on the inside, about 5-7 minutes. Make sure to stir occasionally to cook it evenly.
- Transfer the cooked liver, onion, and garlic to a blender or food processor.Add the milk, chicken or pork broth, mayonnaise, soy sauce, salt, black pepper, and paprika (if using) to the blender.
- Blend everything until you achieve a smooth and creamy consistency. You may need to scrape down the sides of the blender and blend again to ensure everything is well combined.
- Return the blended liver mixture to the skillet or frying pan.Add the bay leaf (if using) to the mixture.
- Cook the liver spread over low heat, stirring continuously, for about 15-20 minutes. This helps to thicken the spread and develop the flavors. Remove the bay leaf after cooking.
- Allow the liver spread to cool to room temperature.Once cooled, transfer it to an airtight container and refrigerate. It can be stored in the refrigerator for up to one week.
