Equipment

  • mixing bowl
  • small bowl
  • frying pan
  • small saucer

Ingredients

  • pound ground pork
  • napa cabbage
  • garlic
  • ginger
  • green onions
  • soy sauce
  • sesame oil
  • salt and black pepper
  • dumpling wrappers
  • water
  • vegetable oil
  • rice vinegar

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, finely chopped cabbage, minced garlic, minced ginger, chopped green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Mix until all the ingredients are well combined.
  • Lay out a dumpling wrapper on a clean surface or in the palm of your hand. Dip your finger in water and wet the edges of the wrapper to help with sealing.Place about a teaspoon of the pork filling in the center of the wrapper.
  • Fold the wrapper in half to create a half-moon shape and pinch the edges together to seal. You can make pleats along the edge for an attractive look, but it's optional.Repeat this process for the remaining wrappers and filling.
  • In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil to create the dipping sauce. You can also add finely chopped green onions or cilantro for extra flavor.
  • Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Place the potstickers in the hot pan in a single layer, making sure they are not touching each other.
  • Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the bottoms are golden brown.
  • Carefully add 1/4 cup of water to the pan, and immediately cover it with a lid. Be cautious as the oil may splatter.
  • Reduce the heat to medium-low and steam the potstickers for 5-7 minutes, or until the wrappers become translucent and the filling is cooked through.
  • Carefully remove the potstickers from the pan once they are done cooking. Serve them hot with the dipping sauce.
