Perfect chicken tenders recipe

Chicken tenders, also known as chicken fingers or chicken strips, are boneless and skinless strips of chicken breast meat. They are typically sliced into narrow pieces, often about the size and shape of one's index finger, which is why they are called "tenders." Chicken tenders are known for their tenderness and mild flavor. They are commonly breaded and deep-fried or oven-baked to achieve a crispy and golden exterior while keeping the meat inside moist and tender. Chicken tenders are a popular and versatile dish, often served as an appetizer, snack, or as the main course in meals, and are enjoyed by people of all ages. They are commonly served with various dipping sauces for added flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into strips

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 large eggs, beaten

  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (you can use seasoned or panko breadcrumbs for extra crunch)

  • 1 teaspoon paprika (optional, for extra flavor)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Cooking oil for frying

Instructions

  • Set up three shallow bowls. In the first bowl, place the flour. In the second bowl, add the beaten eggs. In the third bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, paprika (if using), salt, and pepper. Mix these dry ingredients well.
  • Take a piece of chicken, dredge it in the flour, shaking off any excess. Then, dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, coat it thoroughly with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing the breadcrumbs onto the chicken to adhere. Place the coated chicken tender on a plate or baking sheet.
  • Repeat the dipping and coating process for all the chicken strips.
  • In a deep frying pan or skillet, heat enough cooking oil to submerge the chicken tenders. Heat the oil to 350-375°F (175-190°C).
  • Carefully place a few chicken tenders into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry them for about 3-4 minutes per side or until they are golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
  • Once all the chicken tenders are fried and drained, serve them hot with your favorite dipping sauces, such as ketchup, barbecue sauce, or ranch dressing.
