Ingredients
  

  • 1 round loaf of bread (such as sourdough or Italian)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Using a sharp knife, make a series of diagonal cuts in one direction across the loaf of bread, leaving about 1 inch of space between each cut. Be careful not to cut all the way through the bread.
  • Rotate the bread and make a series of diagonal cuts in the opposite direction, creating a crisscross pattern. This will result in small cubes of bread that are still attached to the base.
  • Place the shredded mozzarella cheese in the gaps between the bread cubes, ensuring it gets into all the nooks and crannies.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper.
  • Use a basting brush to generously brush the garlic herb butter mixture over the entire surface of the bread, making sure it soaks into the cuts.
  • Wrap the bread loosely in aluminum foil, leaving the top exposed.
  • Place the foil-wrapped bread on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
  • After 20 minutes, remove the foil, and bake for an additional 5 minutes or until the cheese is bubbling and the bread is golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Pull apart and enjoy the cheesy goodness!
