Equipment

  • Sushi rolling mat (makisu)
  • sharp knife
  • plastic wrap
  • Bamboo skewer
  • bowl for water
  • cutting board
  • bamboo rice paddle

Ingredients

  • Sushi rice
  • Assorted sushi-grade fish (salmon, tuna, etc.)
  • Avocado
  • Cucumber
  • Carrot
  • Sesame seeds
  • Soy sauce
  • wasabi
  • pickled ginger or serving
  • seaweedsheets

Instructions

Prepare the Sushi Rice.

  • Rinse 1 cup of sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear
  • Cook the rice according to the package instructions.
  • In a separate bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of rice vinegar, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Heat this mixture slightly until the sugar dissolves.
  • Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a large mixing bowl and gently fold in the vinegar mixture. Let it cool to room temperature

Prep the Fillings

  • Slice your sushi-grade fish into thin strips. Cut the avocado into thin slices.
  • Julienne the cucumber and carrot into matchstick-sized pieces.

Assemble the Sushi Sandwich : Place a bamboo sushi rolling mat on a clean surface and cover it with plastic wrap.

  • Lay a sheet of nori, shiny side down, on the plastic wrap. Wet your hands to prevent the rice from sticking, and grab a handful of sushi rice.
  • Spread it evenly over the nori, leaving about half an inch of nori uncovered at the top. Sprinkle sesame seeds over the rice.
  • Lay your choice of sushi-grade fish, avocado slices, cucumber, and carrot sticks in the center of the rice-covered nori.

Roll and Shape: Using the bamboo mat, carefully lift the edge of the nori closest to you. Roll the nori over the fillings, applying gentle pressure to keep the ingredients in place.

  • Continue rolling until you reach the uncovered edge of the nori. Wet the exposed edge of the nori slightly and press to seal the roll.

Slice and Serve With a sharp knife, dampened with water to prevent sticking, slice the sushi sandwich into bite-sized pieces. Arrange the pieces on a plate, and serve with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger on the side.

Enjoy! Savor your homemade Fashion Sandwich Sushi with your favorite dipping sauce and relish the fusion of flavors and textures. Impress your friends and family with this delightful and creative sushi dish!
