Equipment

  • baking sheet
  • parchment paper
  • mixing bowl
  • tongs
  • cooling rack

Ingredients

  • sweet potatoes
  • olive oil
  • salt
  • black pepper
  • paprika
  • cayenne pepper
  • garlic powder

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Wash and peel the sweet potatoes. Cut them into evenly sized fries, about 1/4 to 1/2 inch wide.
  • In a mixing bowl, toss the sweet potato fries with olive oil, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper (if using). Make sure the fries are evenly coated with the seasonings.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup if desired. Otherwise, you can lightly grease the baking sheet.
  • Arrange the seasoned sweet potato fries in a single layer on the baking sheet, ensuring they have some space between them. This helps them get crispy rather than steamed.
  • Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for about 20-25 minutes, flipping the fries halfway through. Bake until they are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.
  • Once out of the oven, let the sweet potato fries cool for a minute on a cooling rack or the baking sheet.
  • Serve the sweet potato fries while they're still hot and enjoy their natural sweetness and crispiness. They're delicious on their own or with your favorite dipping sauces.
