Ingredients
  

  • macaroni
  • unsalted butter
  • all purpose flour
  • milk
  • shredded cheddar cheese
  • salt
  • black pepper
  • paprika
  • bread crumbs

Instructions
 

  • Cook the elbow macaroni according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk continuously for about 2 minutes to create a roux.
  • Gradually pour in the milk while whisking constantly to prevent lumps from forming. Continue whisking until the mixture thickens and begins to simmer.
  • Reduce the heat to low. Add the shredded sharp cheddar cheese to the milk mixture. Stir until the cheese is completely melted and the sauce is smooth and creamy.
  • Stir in the salt, black pepper, and paprika (if using). Taste and adjust the seasonings to your preference.
  • Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce. Gently fold to coat the macaroni evenly with the sauce.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).If desired, transfer the macaroni and cheese mixture to a greased baking dish.Sprinkle breadcrumbs over the top for a crunchy topping.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  • Serve the Classic Macaroni and Cheese hot as a main dish or a side. The creamy, cheesy goodness will warm your heart and satisfy your taste buds.
