Ingredients
  

  • bulgur wheat
  • fresh parsley
  • warm water
  • mint leaves
  • tomatoes
  • cucumber
  • onion
  • olive oil
  • lemons
  • salt and black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Place the bulgur wheat in a large mixing bowl. Pour the boiling water over it and cover the bowl with a plate or lid. Let the bulgur soak for about 20-25 minutes, or until it's tender and has absorbed the water.
  • Use a fork to fluff the soaked bulgur and separate the grains. Allow it to cool to room temperature.
  • Add the finely chopped parsley and mint leaves to the cooled bulgur. Gently mix to combine.
  • Toss in the diced tomatoes, cucumber, and finely chopped red onion. Gently combine the ingredients.
  • Drizzle the extra-virgin olive oil over the salad. Squeeze the lemon juice directly over the mixture.Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
  • Gently toss all the ingredients together until they're evenly coated with the olive oil and lemon juice. The flavors will meld beautifully.
  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the tabbouleh for about an hour before serving. Chilling allows the flavors to develop further.
  • When ready to serve, give the tabbouleh a final toss to redistribute the ingredients.Garnish with additional fresh mint leaves or parsley.
  • Serve the Classic Tabbouleh Salad as a refreshing side dish or as part of a Mediterranean-inspired feast. It's wonderful on its own or accompanied by pita bread, falafel, or grilled meats.
