Moussaka original recipe
Ingredients
- Eggplants
- Potatoes
- Minced meat
- Olive oil
- Onions
- Garlic
- Cinnamon

- Gravierra cheese
- Parsley
Bechamel sauce
- All purpose flour
- Milk
- Olive oil
- Eggs
- Pepper
- Salt
- Nutmeg
Instructions
- Gather all your ingredients and then in a saucepan over medium heat, cook the groud beef and scoop it into a pot.
- And add a little olive oil, onions and garlic and then saute it all.
- You then add in some tomatoes puree and water and then turn the heat to low and allow to cook for about 20 minutes.
- While cooking, chop the eggplant, season it and place it in the oven to cook for about 20 minutes.
- Now cut your potatoes into even slices and deep fry it.
- Now for our sauce, you pour in some olive oil into a saucepan or pot over medium heat and add in the all purpose flour, milk, eggs, pepper powder, salt, and nutmeg. Whisk everything together until it's well combined.
- By now your eggplant, and potatoes should be ready, gett your cooked ground beef as well.
- Now grease a baking dish and layer the fried potatoes, followed by the baked eggplant, ground beef and sprinkle some gravierra cheese and parsley on top
- and then pour in the bechamel sauce over everything.
- Now bake in the oven for another 40 minutes and ones a golden crust begins to form, it's ready.
- Slice and serve on plates.

Bechamel sauce is actually made within butter and flour but in Greece, butter has been replaced with the olive oil.
