AKARA RECIPE (EASIEST METHOD)

Akara, popularly known as koose in Ghana, is a quicksnack that has been around for a long time now. It is sold all over with thewell- known Hausa koko. Akara is a Nigerian meal which is not only tasty butalso nutritious.

Equipment

  • blender
  • Draining spoon
  • Wooden spoon or electric mixer

Ingredients
  

  • 1 CUP brown beans
  • 1 red pepper
  • small onion
  • Salt
  • Vegetable oil

Instructions
 

  • Soak the beans in water overnight to soften it.
  • Wash the beans and blend with about 1/3 cup of water
  • Pour the mixture into a bowl and add salt, pepper andonion(onion and pepper must be chopped).
  • Mix everything together with a wooden spoon orelectric mixer.
  • Put oil on fire and heat it up.
  • Use a spoon or ladle to fetch the mixture in desired quantities and fryin the oil.
  • Turn over and allow each side to fry well to give youa golden brown appearance.
  • Remove them when ready using a draining spoon, drainany excess oil and serve.
