Ingredients

  • ground cumin

  • salt and pepper

Instructions
 

  • Heat the frying pan over medium heat and add a splash of oil.Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pan.
  • Sauté until the onion becomes translucent and fragrant. Add the ground beef or lamb to the pan and cook until browned, breaking up any lumps with a wooden spoon or spatula.
  • Add the diced bell pepper, grated carrot, and chopped tomatoes to the pan. Stir well to combine. In a small bowl, mix together the tomato paste,
  • Worcestershire sauce, ground cumin, ground coriander, paprika, and chili powder. Pour the spice mixture into the pan and stir it into the meat and vegetable mixture.
  • Reduce the heat to low and let the mince simmer for about 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve the South African mince hot, garnished with fresh parsley or cilantro
  • It can be enjoyed as a filling for tacos, served over rice, or used as a stuffing for pastries.

Notes

Feel free to adjust the spices and seasonings according to your personal preference. If you prefer it spicier, you can increase the amount of chili powder or add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
