Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups cake flour
  • 2 tbsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp yeast
  • 4 spoons sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • cooking oil
  • Salt
  • Carrot

Instructions
 

  • Sift cake flour, baking powder, yeast, sugar and salt into a bowl.
  • Add the carrot to it and mix together.
  • Add cooking oil, water and eggs. Use your fingers to mix well.
  • Add warm water, set aside for about an hour to allow the dough to rise.
  • Put the dough into your cups and boil them for about an hour in a large sauce pan with water in it.
  • Remove from the fire when ready, drain away the water and serve your dombolo.

Notes

Among the Zulu people who are also South Africans, dombolo is prepared on top of a stew and not alone. They can be made as a whole loaf or in small cups like cup cakes.
