Vegetable oil
cheddar cheese
Instructions
Put your flour, sugar, yeast and salt into a large bowl and mix together.
Add the water and two tablespoons of oil. Mix together and thoroughly, using your hand or a mixer.
Cover the dough for about 45 minutes to allow it to rise.
Knead the dough again and let it sit for 15 more minutes.
Heat your oil for frying. Let it be on medium heat. If you don’t have a deep fryer, let the oil be enough to cover the amagwinya during frying.
Divide the dough into smaller balls and drop them gently into the oil. Fry till it becomes golden brown.
Remove from the oil and transfer them onto the lined tray or plate.
Melt the cheddar cheese and drizzle on top of the amagwinya.

Notes
Amagwinya or Vetkeok, translated in English as ‘fat cake’ is a tasty doughnut snack eaten mostly by the Zulu people of South Africa. In Ghana it is known as ‘Boflot’.
