Delicious ETOR RECIPE

Etor is one popular local food usually prepared from boiled plantain,yam or cocoyam which is mashed and mixed with palm oil. It is a dish that hasexisted for a really long time and is still prepared today.

Equipment

  • Earthenware bowl and wooden masher

Ingredients
  

  • 5 ripe plantains
  • onion
  • 1 red scotch bonnet (red pepper)
  • ¼ cup roasted peanuts
  • Salt (to taste)
  • 5 tbsp palm oil
  • Pear (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Put a sauce pan with water on fire, peel yourplantains (some ripe and some partially ripe) and boil for about 15 minutes.
  • When it’s ready, drain water from it and set aside.
  • Grind your scotch bonnet pepper, some roastedgroundnuts, onions and a pinch of salt in the earthenware bowl.
  • Add in the plantain and mash together.
  • Use a spoon to mix everything well and mash again in the earthenwarebowl till it’s well mixed.
  • Add your palm oil and mix it with the etor mixture.
  • Serve with roasted groundnuts and pear.
