Delicious Akple Reciep

Akple is an easy to prepare dish popularly eaten by the people of Volta Region in Ghana.

Equipment

  • Cooking pot
  • spatula

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups Corn flour (
  • half cup Cassava dough optional)
  • 2 tbsp Salt
  • 500 mls Water

Instructions
 

  • Ground dry maize into a smooth powder. You can do this with a miller or send it to the corn mill.
  • Pour two cups of water into a clean cooking pot and place it on fire
  • Wait for the water to boil and add a reasonable amount of salt
  • Pour desired amount of the corn flour into the boiling water in bits to ensure there is consistency
  • If you’ll use cassava dough, mix desired amount in warm water and add to the mixture. make sure you use at most one-third cassava dough as compared to the corn flour.
  • Using your cleaned spatula, stir the mixture continuously to ensure a uniform and consistent paste is formed.
  • If the paste is too watery, add more flour to ensure you gain the desired texture.
  • Continue stirring until the akple is well cooked.
  • Mold it into serving bowls or storage containers and store temporarily.
  • Your food is ready. You can serve whiles hot.
