Red Velvet Cake Recipe
I always thought this cake is difficult to make but now it’s so simple. You will love the cheese flavor as topping.
Ingredients for Red Velvet Cake
2 and 2/3 cups cake flour
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted softened butter
1 and 3/4 cups granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 bottle liquid red food color
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon vinegar
1 and 1/3 cups buttermik
Cream cheese frosting(Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe)
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Spray two 9-inch cake pans well with nonstick cooking spray. Line the bottoms of the pans with parchment paper. Set aside.
Whisk together cake flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Sift dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl, to remove any lumps of cocoa powder then set aside.
In a large mixing bowl use an electric mixer to me mix together butter and sugar on medium speed for 4-5 minutes.
Add eggs and mix until combined. Mix in oil, red food color, vanilla extract, and vinegar. Scrape down the sides of the bowl.
Combine in dry ingredients in the liquid ingredients alternating with buttermilk, starting and ending with the dry ingredients until combined.
Pour the cake batter into the two prepared cake pans equally.
Bake at 350°F (177°C) for 28-32 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Remove from the oven and place on a wire rack to cool in the pans for 20-30 minutes.
Level the tops of each cake with a knife.
Place one of the cake layers on a cake stand then top with a layer of frosting, and smooth it out into one even layer.
Place the second layer on top, then use the remaining frosting to frost the top and sides of the cake.
Pour cake into fridge or serve it right away
