Mango chutney is an Indian recipe which is a blend of mango, spices and a few other ingredients. It is rich in vitamins A, B and C. Aside that, mangoes are also a source of potassium, magnesium and iron.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups of mangoes (peeled and sliced into pieces)
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • ½ cup of golden raisins
  • 1 cup of distilled white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds
  • ¼ teaspoon of red chili pepper flakes
  • ¼ cup of crystallized ginger (chopped)

 

What Mango Chutney Can Be Served With

Mango chutney can be served with chicken, pork, lamb and cheese. It can also be used as a spread in bread or sandwich.

Steps

  1. Mix sugar and vinegar in a large pot and boil. Stir while you boil till the sugar dissolves.
  2. Add the rest of the ingredients to it and leave it to simmer till it becomes like a syrup and thickens. Stir once in a while
  3. When it is ready, pour it into a clean hot jar and leave about ½ inch of space between the chutney and the lid of the jar.

Mango chutney can be kept in the fridge for up to six weeks.
