Lamugine is only popular in the Northern part of Ghana although in recent times, it is becoming a choice of drink in the Southern part as well.

Ingredients for Lamugine preparation.

  • Uncooked Rice or millet
  • Cloves (pepre)
  • Ginger
  • Sugar
  • Ice cubes (optional)
  • Water
  • Vanilla essence (optional)

  • Blender
  • Sieve

Steps to prepare Lamugine.

  1. Rinse and soak rice in water overnight to soften it.
  2. Drain the water and pour the rice into a blender.
  3. Wash the ginger, pepre and add to the rice in the blender
  4. Add a reasonable amount of water
  5. Blend until you obtain a smooth mixture.
  6. Sift the mixture
  7. Add sugar and stir
  8. Pour mixture into a jug or receiver and refrigerate it
  9. Add ice cubes
  10. Serve it cold.
