How to make Homemade Hamburger Buns

Homemade Hamburger Buns Recipe

Homemade buns are soft and chewy and taste slightly sweet. They can hold your burgers and your sandwiches.

They can also make a great breakfast with little peanut butter or margarine. They are simple to make at home with no difficulties. Just follow our step by step tutorials to learn.


Ingredients Hamburger Buns

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon active-dry yeast

2 tablespoons sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup milk (whole or skim)

1 egg

1/2 cup (4 oz) warm water

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 tablespoon butter


Steps for Hamburger Buns

In a bowl, whisk or mix together the milk, egg, oil, sugar, and salt.

In a separate bowl, pour and stir yeast into warm water. Allow it to dissolve for about 10-15mins.

Add the mixture of step 1 into yeast mixture and mix until uniformly combined.

Add all the flour and stir until it forms a shaggy dough.

Transfer dough into a flat area and knead at low speed for 10 minutes.(Dough should be smooth and spring back when poked)

Transfer the dough into the mixing bowl and cover for about 1 hour (Allow the dough rise until doubled in size)

Dust a flat surface or board with a little flour and place the risen dough on top.

Divide the dough into 8 pieces and shape each into a tight ball.

Transfer the balls to a baking sheet and let rise until they look puffy and hamburger-sized, roughly 30-40 minutes.

Heat and melt the butter and brush it over the risen hamburger buns.(This helps the tops to brown and keeps the crust soft)

Pre-heat the oven to 375°F.

Bake the buns until golden, 15-18 minutes.

Cool down the buns before slicing and using.
