Honey Marinated Buttermilk fried chicken
This crispy chicken recipe is made with honey and buttermilk given it an authentic taste. Its great recipe for the family
3 pounds chicken pieces
1/2 cup honey
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons plain dry bread crumbs
2 teaspoons ground cayenne pepper
2 large eggs
1/4 cup buttermilk
1 cup vegetable oil
freshly ground black pepper
Wash and cut chicken into desire sizes into a medium bowl.
Mix the honey and vinegar together and pour over the chicken.
Cover bowl and refrigerate chicken for 2 to 4 hours.
Pour 1/3 cup of flour in a small bowl. Then in a second bowl, combine the remaining 2/3 cup of flour with the bread crumbs and cayenne pepper. Set aside.
Whisk together the eggs and buttermilk.
In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat to 300 F.
Remove the chicken from the marinade and drain on paper towel
Dip the chicken in flour to coat, then in the beaten buttermilk and egg mixture.
Season with salt and pepper and then dredge in the flour and breadcrumb mixture, coating thoroughly.
When oil is heated, add chicken pieces and fry until golden brown.
Remove it and and set aside.
Boil the chicken marinade in a pan for 5 mins
Drizzle some of the boiled marinade over the chicken pieces and serve.
